Child Protection Services brings in many other professional and community people to make decisions about whether child abuse and neglect have occurred.
Child Protection Services does not get involved if a non-caregiver (such as a stranger or neighbor) is the abuser.
A false report (a report that appears to intentionally falsify facts or make a false accusation) will be sent to law enforcement or the State’s Attorney.
Child Protection Services is not responsible for making the decision to remove a child from the care of a parent or guardian.
Children are routinely removed from the home when abuse or neglect is reported.
